Quality
Quality Assurance at Redox is dynamic. New product lines and new sources are regularly being introduced necessitating the review and approval of new suppliers as well as the maintenance of our established supplier base. Our challenge is to manage the risks of these changing processes, ensuring we deal with reliable suppliers who can make the process efficient for all parties.
The challenge is to maintain our high levels of quality assurance and regulatory compliance in the face of constant change. We must also ensure we keep up to date with relevant Australian, New Zealand and International Standards to ensure we are aware of, and strive for, industry best practice. The experience and expertise of our compliance audit team enables us to achieve these goals.
Recent Challenges
- Certainly the biggest challenge recently has been the move to our new premises in Minto. Complying with the various post-construction and operational consent conditions and dealing with some staff changes in our QA/Regulatory Affairs team has tested our resolve. Despite these challenges we are settling into our site comfortably – a testament to our strong procedural and training focussed processes.
- Stricter import controls imposed by AQIS have meant increased correspondence with suppliers on manufacturing and/or treatment processes and inspections.
- The past year has meant a consolidation of action in regards to continual monitoring of consent conditions for the Minto site, as well as gearing up and completing required studies, procedures and plans for the next stage of construction.
- Increased efforts in conjunction with the authorities in their efforts to crackdown on those using chemical precursors in the manufacture of illegal drugs as well as keeping a close watch on chemicals which have both legitimate industrial uses but are also used in the manufacture of chemical weapons.
Recent Milestones
- The Shelf-Life Sensitive system has undergone improvements throughout the year ensuring we are keeping pace with the requirements of our food and pharmaceutical industry customers and helping them meet their various regulatory requirements.
- Tightening up our supplier selection criteria and rationalising our supplier base to reduce the risk to our business and develop supplier partnerships
- Continual improvement to our systems that manage and monitor the complex range of permits we require to operate which include things such as Poisons Licensing, HSNO (NZ), quarantine import permits, Dangerous Goods and Chemical Weapons Precursors.
- Ongoing work reviewing, documenting and auditing the numerous procedures throughout the company particularly in terms of Environmental issues and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), ensuring our business management system is constantly evolving, striving for continual improvement of all processes and of course keeping pace with current external and internal requirements.
Continued commitment to ‘Responsible Care Program’ (The Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA))
Redox continues to be a member of PACIA and a signatory to the Responsible Care Program and with the employment of a new Regulatory Affairs Coordinator recently we look forward to escalating our efforts in this area in the short-term future. The issues tackled by the program are wide ranging and include Environmental Protection,Employee Health and Safety, Storage and Transport Safety, Product Stewardship and Community Right to Know. Monitoring and commitment to this program ensures systems and procedures are constantly scrutinised and updated to meet current legislative requirements and best practice expectations.

Our IT team continue to work on the enormous task of rewriting our whole operating system and the QA/ Regulatory Affairs Department eagerly awaits its release to improve our efficiency to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
